Passion Fruit, also known as Maracuya or scientifically known as Passiflora edulis originated in subtropical South America and is native to southern Brazil through Paraguay and northern Argentina. Our passion fruit is sourced from local farmers. There are many varieties of passion fruit ranging in colors and shapes. The most common passion fruit is round with purple skin. The jelly-like pulp is yellow/orange and has an intense aromatic smell. It tastes mainly sweet with a burst of tanginess.
Passion fruit has gained popularity because of its rich source of powerful antioxidants. It also contains large amounts of phosphorus and vitamin A. The high levels of magnesium found in this fruit may help reduce stress and anxiety. Passion fruit is available in the spring, summer, and fall.
Fun fact: The amazon is home to more than 200 species of passion plants.

Tropical Fruit ripens best in warm temperatures. If you have received fruit that has not ripened and you wish to speed up the ripening process, we recommend to either put your fruit in paper bags or wrapped in a kitchen towel and placed in a dry, warm area. Alternatively, you may also place your fruit outside in the sun (in an area mindful of bugs) which will also speed up the ripening process.
