Key Lime, scientifically known as Citrusaurantiifolia is native to Southeast Asia, it is a citrus species with an oval shaped fruit. We source our key limes locally as well as from Mexico. Key limes have a thin, yellow to green rind with very strong citrus aroma. The flavor of the flesh is highly acidic and may carry a few inedible seeds.
The key lime is highly alkalizing for the body. This fruit may help to fight infections, rejuvenate skin and reduce inflammation. Key limes are available year round, with the exception of a few weeks.
Fun Fact: Henry Perrine is credited with introducing the Key Lime to the Florida Keys, which is how the key lime got its name.

Tropical Fruit ripens best in warm temperatures. If you have received fruit that has not ripened and you wish to speed up the ripening process, we recommend to either put your fruit in paper bags or wrapped in a kitchen towel and placed in a dry, warm area. Alternatively, you may also place your fruit outside in the sun (in an area mindful of bugs) which will also speed up the ripening process.
